After giving everything they have against tough Fairview and Fossil Ridge squads, the boys of BHS Football get back after it this week against a formidable Poudre team. With three weeks to go in the season, here's hoping the boys finish strong and continue to improve their skills and execution and fight hard no matter how tough their opponents may be. Here are some details for Week 8.
Varsity will play at 7:00 p.m. this Friday, October 14 at Poudre's French Field in Ft. Collins. It does not appear that tickets will be available on GoFan so you may want to get to the game a bit earlier to avoid a line at the stadium.
The C Team will take on Poudre this Saturday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Recht Field.
Both teams will again be well-nourished this week at the traditional team dinner on Thursday. Continuing thanks to the various local restaurants that have stepped up to support these dinners and the great BHS Football families who have contributed time, food and treasure including The Seligman Family, The Keegan Family, The Gittes Family, The Sharpe Family, The Kinsel Family, The Vaillancourt Family, and many more.
We will have a BHS Touchdown Club Tailgate beginning around 5:30 or so in the French Field parking lot. We'll have some beverages, some snacks, and hopefully a bit of catering from Snarfs to boot.
The games will again be live-streamed on the BHS Touchdown Club YouTube Channel for those who cannot attend and a recording of both games will be posted there for viewing in the future. Thank you in particular to Pact for continuing to make live-streaming and recording a reality.
Thank you to everyone who attended Pantherfest last Saturday and/or who supported the event in other ways. It was a lot of fun and very successful. While an official final tally is still being calculated, it looks like the event will gross approximately $100,000 for the second consecutive year and net BHS Football and other athletic teams and programs approximately $70,000.
BHS Football photographer/documentarian Kirsten Boyer continues to pile up incredible photos of the team and the season generally. Many can be seen on her Instagram Feed. Please contact her if you're interested in one or more of her photos. Her business deserves the community's support.
There has been a solid amount of media coverage of BHS Football coverage this year, much of which is documented on the BHS Touchdown Club Facebook and Twitter Feeds. Here's a nice video summary of the Varsity game against Fairview from Channel 9 News with a lot of good footage of the team before, during and after the game.
Finally, as everyone probably understands, Pantherfest, the Boulder Panther Club that puts on Pantherfest, and the BHS Football Touchdown Club which is a subsidiary of the Boulder Panther Club, are driven entirely by a relatively small group of parent and alumni leader-volunteers. As students graduate from BHS every year, this small group turns-over relatively rapidly and thus there is a constant need for new leader-volunteers. This is particularly true as the 2022-23 school year turns into the 2023-24 school year. So please, if you or anyone in your circles can step up as a leader-volunteer for 2023-24 in either the area of BHS Football specifically or BHS Athletics generally, please step forward and contact the Boulder Panther Club.
